The inspiration for Melody Charm came from the philosophy of Tai-chi, symbolizing balance and harmony. The designers used vertical lines, light, and a black and white background to create an environment reminiscent of a Chinese ink painting. The aim was to create a peaceful atmosphere, a haven away from the vanity of the world.
What sets Melody Charm apart is its unique use of space. A lounge area connects two rooms, with a fireplace installation serving as a visual spotlight. This feature not only elevates the space temperature but also highlights the character of the space. The dark light, gray background, and conspicuous red chair add to the unique charm of the space.
The materials used in the realization of this design include wood, marble, iron, stone, glass, plating titanium, stainless steel, and paint. The total area of the house is 457 square meters. The design project started in January 2015 in Taoyuan, Taiwan, and was completed in August 2015.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was assuring the material for the theme and background wall. The designers had to consider the material size and defect, which required cutting and removing. They tried different ways of collage to create a contrast to the stone wall and the extensibility of the material itself.
Upon entering the house, a mellow and warm melody of chords sounds immediately, following the rhythm of the melody arches, lightening up with the pace. Whether it is orderly geometric or flowing organic lines, all in this space are like the rhythm and flow of music. They bring the energy of life to the space, and with the sometimes gentle stretch of the Adagio, sometimes smooth melodious Allegro, they give different flavors to the space.
The Melody Charm residential house is a testament to Ding-Rui Tai & Yun-Hsiang Tsao's ability to balance aesthetics and practicality. Their design philosophy is simple: use aesthetics as a base to reflect life, making the change unconsciously. This design, which won the prestigious Golden A' Design Award, is a testament to their prodigious talent and wisdom.
